MONUMENT PRODUCTION

With over 100 years of experience we implement only the best practices and techniques in monument production. We are the only monument manufacturing facility in Barry County and one of the largest in the state of Michigan. After the design phase is completed we begin the production process. From the warehouse, to lettering, to sandblasting, and even artwork, all of our granite work is done in house.

LAYOUT & STENCIL

Each piece of granite is hand selected and brought in from the stock room to begin the layout process. A rubber stencil is cut for each stone and our team of professionals makes sure each layout is accurately applied.

Once a design  is approved the layout team gets to work. They take the approved design and cut it out of a rubber stencil on automated cutting machines. The rubber then is taken to the back where the stone is selected and the layout is applied. Each crew member takes extra precautions to make sure each stencil meets layout guidelines and is applied both straight and accurately. Once the bead lines have been pulled the granite is ready for sandblast.

SANDBLAST

Sandblasting is a technique used to blast away exposed granite from the stencil, leaving clean cut letters and beautiful line art.

The sandblaster is the most valuable tool in our facility. Tiny grains of sand pressurized and forced against the hard granite surface slowly chip away at the exposed parts of the stone left by the stencil. This technique allows the blast technician to sculpt and mold letters, shapes, and line art designs into the stone while maintaining crisp edges and avoiding damage to the polish. After the stone completes its blast journey, it is painted and the rubber stencil is removed. The granite either continues its journey for custom artwork or is sent to the setting crew for delivery.

I can’t say enough nice things about this family business. Our stone was over 3 years in the making…we changed our minds a lot about what we needed. They were patient and kind, and our headstone is a beautiful work of art. Thanks so much!!!
